NEW YORK – November 17, 2020 – Today, restaurant discovery platform Zagat, and hospitality tech platform TechTable, announced that tickets are now available for the virtual TechTable Summit 2020 Presented by Zagat on December 15th. This unique collaboration marks the first time the brands will join forces to set a path to the future of hospitality via innovation, dialogue and support.
TechTable Summit has taken place as an annual live event in New York City since 2015, and will be hosted virtually, allowing more professionals to participate during this critical moment for the restaurant industry. This year’s summit will be a 360-degree event, with supporting content from notable industry professionals exclusively available on Zagat Stories.
This year, to expand accessibility and reach, and in response to the immense pressure the industry currently faces, an all-access TechTable ticket to this year’s summit will be priced at $45 per person (reduced from the original price of $475). A portion of proceeds will be donated to Independent Restaurant Coalition (IRC), further supporting the industry in this time of crisis.
Speakers and panelists include: Sam Kass (former White House Chef and Senior Policy Advisor for Nutrition), Nina Compton (chef/owner of Compère Lapin and Bywater American Bistro), Nick Tran (head of marketing, TikTok), Brandon Jew (executive chef/owner of Mister Jiu’s), Ann Kim (chef/owner of Pizzeria Lola, Hello Pizza, and Young Joni), JJ Johnson (chef/owner, Fieldtrip), André Mack (sommelier and founder of Maison Noir Wines), Alex Canter (CEO of Ordermark and fourth-generation owner of Canter’s Deli), Lila King (head of lifestyle and publishing partnerships, Instagram), with more to come.
This one-day virtual summit will feature live discussions around topics of the day, led and moderated by a blockbuster roster of hospitality leaders and industry innovators, curated by TechTable, and supported by Zagat content. Together, TechTable and Zagat will explore some of the most pressing questions surrounding the hospitality industry such as:
• How can restaurants be high-touch in a no-touch world?
• How can technology help make hospitality businesses more sustainable?
• How can we ensure that the hospitality industry is more diverse, and equitable–and how can we use technology to help achieve that goal?
“We founded TechTable six years ago to help bridge the gap between technology and hospitality. Collaboration between the two industries has never been more relevant or urgent,” said TechTable co-founder Jaci Badzin. “”We’ve known The Infatuation team for years. Under their stewardship, we are confident that Zagat is the perfect partner to help bring TechTable to a larger audience. And the Zagat Stories platform is an ideal venue to tell the stories of how restaurant operators are using technology in innovative ways at this precarious moment for our industry.”
“During this time of upheaval for restaurants, we saw an opportunity to convene thought leaders from the industry and bring people together. We know that technology and innovation will play a key role in defining the future for dining and hospitality, and we want to be a part of that future,” said Chris Stang, ceo, Zagat and co-founder and CEO, The Infatuation. “Having known the TechTable team for many years and personally participating in past conferences, I’ve seen first hand the impact this event can have on this industry. We’re looking forward to bringing TechTable and Zagat together in this important moment to foster these important conversations.”
Updates and announcements regarding additional speakers and programming will be announced in the weeks leading up to the event.
Past TechTable Participants include: Danny Meyer (USHG), Meenakshi Nagarajan (Sweetgreen), Ellen Bennett (Hedley & Bennett), Marguerite Mariscal (Momofuku), Nabeel Alamgir (Lunchbox), and more.
Founded in 2014, TechTable creates dialogue between tech, hospitality and investing. Through the annual summit and by producing industry relevant content, TechTable connects the products and systems being developed with the industry they serve. Over five years, the brand has produced 5 all-day summits, satellite events in Chicago, Los Angeles and New York, and 8 networking dinners featuring more than 125 guest speakers.
The legendary Zagat brand has been a leader in restaurant discovery for more than 40 years. Since its acquisition from Google in 2018 by The Infatuation, Zagat has been developing a new technology-driven, user-generated platform, anticipated for release in 2021. In addition, in 2020, the company launched Zagat Stories, a new editorial initiative where the restaurant community shares personal stories of trials, tribulations, and triumph.
